AR FFURF CÂN NEWYDD SBON GAN Y CANWR A'R CYFANSODDWR DELWYN SIȎN
A CHRISTMAS PRAYER FROM LIVING ROOM CARDIFF, CARMARTHEN, CAERNARFON and COLWYN BAY
IN THE FORM OF A BRAND NEW SONG BY THE SINGER AND COMPOSER DELWYN SIȎN
The Prayer.
The streets of Bethlehem are absolutely heaving;
Since mid-afternoon the crowds have been celebrating,
You need to escape, need to be alone,
But there’s no way out of the Inn.
You need the darkness, need to be alone,
You need to be under the million stars – though you need only one.
One to guide you on your way, away from the brink.
And the Angels above you are waiting,
Waiting for the call to come on down.
Listen to their faithful wings, listen to the call to life,
“Peace” lending a hand, “Mercy” in the middle of strife.
“But Jesus, it’s so hard !
Letting go of such a sad happiness,
Letting go of the fragile thread
And feeling naked in the middle of the fair.”
But the Angels are above you
Shepherding your prayers and your faith into the fold,
The prayers of heaven are the prayers of the street
Offering life, day by day by day.
INSTRUMENTAL
The streets of Bethlehem are quiet now,
With white winged feathers blowing on the ground.
In a little while a new day will dawn.
And the Angels are silent, listening to the prayer on the breeze.
Give us the strength to whisper it, day by day,
Give us the strength to hear it, day by day,
Give us the strength to raise up our eyes
To see the Star above.
Amen.
